A finished corset hides the messy bit
From Atelier Notes, a Club column. About this column ↗
The finished photograph rarely shows the cutting, fitting or adjusting.
It also doesn't show the decisions that didn't work.
A handmade corset has to look right in a photograph, but it also has to exist off-camera. Fabric behaves differently when someone moves. A seam that looks tidy flat on a table may not sit the same way on a body.
That is why workshop images are worth keeping. They explain the work better than a perfect final shot.
If you're photographing something handmade, turn the camera around occasionally. The table is part of the story.
