Regret is not a simple yes-or-no box
From From the Threads, a Club column. About this column ↗
Regret shows up in 497 of the 8,813 archived threads by our keyword search. That's 5.6% of threads where the word appears somewhere, including replies. Someone saying "no regrets" is counted too.
So that figure does NOT tell us how many people regret anything.
What it does show is that people ask the question.
Sometimes disappointment is about an experience. Sometimes it's about the expectations attached to it, or the fact that the couple understood the agreement differently.
The useful question is not "Did you regret it?" as though the answer must define the whole relationship.
Try: "Was there one moment you wish we'd handled differently?"
It is possible to value a conversation and still wish part of it had gone another way.
Research note: Based on keyword analysis of a self-selected adult forum archive. Threads may contain fiction, and terms can appear in multiple discussions. These counts are not a survey of couples. How the archive was used ↗
