The morning after an honest conversation
From Between Us, a Club column. About this column ↗
A late conversation about desire can make two people feel wonderfully close.
Morning comes. Someone is doing the dishes. Nobody is sure whether last night was a confession, a proposal or just an interesting talk.
That gap is where a lot of unnecessary worry fits.
Try one follow-up: "Are we still just talking about this?"
The question doesn't kill the excitement. It gives both people a chance to decide what they meant.
And sometimes "just talking" is exactly where a good idea should stay.
