A boundary does not need a legal department
From Between Us, a Club column. About this column ↗
Some profiles read like seventeen pages of terms and conditions.
It's understandable. When people have dealt with intrusive messages, they try to anticipate every possible problem.
But the most useful boundaries are often short.
"We don't meet strangers at home."
"Please ask before sending pictures."
"We're here for conversation, not dating."
Specific beats elaborate. It also gives decent people an easy way to behave decently.
You can add the fine print later.
